Stamps with a cause

I just purchased two sheets of these super cute stamps from Zazzle.com. They benefit the Humane Society, and their tireless efforts to save unwanted and abused animals, which is a cause near to my heart. I adopted my wonderful cat Hogan there, and anyone that has met him will say he's the nicest cat EVER. So show your support, and purchase the stamps for you or as a gift.

Tortola vacation photos

The view from our deck. It was so nice to wake up and see this!

I posted them here in my MobileMe gallery. One day I'll add more pictures and albums in there, and when I do, I'll let you know.

The most useful way to recycle a water ski

going...

going...

gone...

I saw this nifty four shot-er at a floating bar named the Willie T. It is anchored off of Norman Island in the British Virgin Islands. Jake, Susan, Idaho and I tried it with some Lemon Drops. Talk about peer pressure! I wish I had my own pictures of this, but I was too afraid of dropping my camera in the water, so it stayed on the boat.

Here are some more shots:

(my picture)

Anyway... So if you would like to make this and hang one from the ceiling in your own bar:

1) Take one old wooden water ski
2) Drill 4 (or more) holes in it big enough to hold tall skinny shot glasses. Don't make the holes too big or the shot glasses won't stay in.
3) Find a group of friends and try it out... it's fun!

Drinks: Painkiller

A super yummy rum drink that is the official drink of the British Virgin Islands. I was able to go straight to the source on my recent vacation with a stop at the Soggy Dollar Bar. Of course we drank Painkillers at other places, but this place is the home of the original.

Painkiller
1/4 dark rum
1/4 cream of coconut (Coco Lopez)
1/3 pineapple juice
spl. orange juice
pour over ice
grate nutmeg on top

I have finally succumbed

This is my first attempt at a blog. I'm finally up with the times for 2009. I figure this can be a place to connect the scattered pieces of my online life, and share it with my family and friends. I hope to update it more than once a month but we will see how that goes. Haha! I hope we all have fun with this.

Also, the k8girl comes from my first email address and AOL screenname, and I like to use it as my online handle. It is pronounced "kate girl," not "kay eight girl." I also used to sign some of my high school art work with K8, so I guess it also originated there.

Thanks for stopping by!

Xo... Kate
